Roles and responsibilities

• Represents counties
• Protects the interests of county governments
• Makes laws concerning county governments
• Determines allocation of revenue among counties
• Oversees national revenue allocated to county governments
• Participates in oversight of State offices
• Participates in final votes on impeachment matters assigned to the Senate

Qualifications overview

• Kenyan citizen for at least ten years before the election
• Registered voter
• Nominated by a political party or an independent candidate
• Must meet applicable moral, ethical and legal requirements
