Roles and responsibilities

• Provides leadership in county governance and development
• Leads the County Executive Committee and county administration
• Promotes democracy, good governance, unity and cohesion
• Promotes peace and order within the county
• Promotes county competitiveness
• Is accountable for management and use of county resources
• Promotes citizen participation in policies, plans and service delivery

Qualifications overview

• Kenyan citizen for at least ten years before the election
• Registered voter
• Eligible for election as a member of county assembly
• Degree from a university recognized in Kenya
• Nominated by a political party or an independent candidate
• Must meet applicable moral, ethical and legal requirements
